Hello Grade Three Community,
Things are really moving in grade three! We've established a great flow and rhythm to the day, and I'm very pleased to say that your children are doing well! My goal this year is to help transition them towards independence. In class, I emphasize accountability with regards to their agenda getting signed, filling out their home reading sheets, and being personally responsible for their belongings. The morning routine is that students bring their own backpacks into the classroom where they put their lunches in their locker and bring agendas to their desk. I ask for your assistance in allowing your child to do this independently. In the morning parents are encouraged to say goodbye at the door.
In other news, I'm excited to announce an upcoming field trip. On October 21 we will be attending the Vancouver Reader and Writers Festival. We will be listening to two authors speak about their books, and going on a picnic (weather permitted) afterward. The festival is on Granville Island, and will be from 9-1 pm. Unfortunately, that week all buses are being used, so to make this happen we need parent drivers. Currently, we have five drivers and are in need of three more. Please let me know ASAP if you can accompany us on that day.
Wishing you a great week,
Melissa Wyville
