Home Reading And Terry Fox information

Hello Parents,

Today I've sent home the Home Reading bags with each student. As a way of keeping track of which books students have read, there is a log book inside the Ziplock bag. Please have your child write down the books information after reading it. Please be sure to sign or initial your child's completed book page. Each day, or when a chapter book has been read, student's will bring their bags back to class and record their reading on a school sheet. At the end of the term I will reward those students with 30 books read. Points-wise pictures books are 'worth' one point, while every 25 pages in a chapter book is worth the same amount (one point). I expect students to be reading at least 30 minutes a day at this age. Thank you for your participation in this important program!

On Friday we will be celebrating the life of Terry Fox. During chapel a movie about his life will be shown to the students, along with a discussion of his life in class. The day will end with a Terry Fox run. Students will be encouraged to wear Canadian attire as a way of celebrating this Canadian hero. If you are interested in joining us for either chapel (11:20 to 11:50) or the run (2:00-2:30), please do!

Miss. Wyville
